Stefano Pioli, AC Milan's head coach, has said the following words to DAZN. Here are his words:
"I was expecting a difficult game, they make you play little and doesn't let you build neatly. The goal then unlocked us from a mental point of view and then we were a better team than at the beginning of the game. It's a small step forward that was needed. We have to look ahead, the season is still long. Qualifying to the Champions League again next year would be a good result, we have to give continuity in the next matches... The coach has to analyze the game and understand where to start again, something in our defensive mechanism had failed. I'm not interested in playing three or four, we need to find more brilliance, starting from a more solid defensive phase was our goal".
Pioli added:
"Rafa is a strange player, I've always thought that putting him wide would help him. These days he told me that this is his favorite position, then sometimes he has to go more out but he was very happy to work in that area of the field. Rafa was very happy with the position, then we'll see from game to game. Giroud? He's a leader of this team, the more strong players we have on the pitch the better he is."
Pioli concluded:
"The negative results are felt, you live your daily life with more tension and with less serenity. The fact of having a responsible group is normal, we can't forget the support of the fans who were close to us tonight as well."
