Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala provides an update on the stadium projects for Inter and AC Milan. The Mayor of Milan stated from IULM University: "The hypothesis of a single stadium for the two teams remains alive, but today Milan has announced that they are looking with interest at a new area, which is La Maura, with a solitary initiative that would also involve the Rossoneri's youth and women's teams. Now the process for the authorization of the stadium near the current Meazza is ongoing, but I have asked Milan to respond to our request within two or three weeks or to tell us if they are abandoning this hypothesis."
"Inter is looking at another area outside Milan, they have not communicated which one because there is a confidentiality agreement. Is the ownership of the Nerazzurri club not giving guarantees? You have to ask AC Milan, who evidently wants to detach themselves. We have no doubts about the owners, even though today they are transitional."
"No one wants San Siro anymore, that's clear. It's not a problem of costs because we could even give it to just one of the two clubs at a discounted price, but Inter and Milan believe they can't generate enough revenue. As mayor, citizen, and fan, I'm bitter, but we had already understood that. It will be one more problem for the Municipality. I have always said that if the new stadium were to be built in the same area as San Siro, it could not coexist with Meazza. With La Maura, the situation changes, but we would be forced to find a new solution for San Siro. The Meazza stadium cannot be in the institutional interests of the Municipality, the only possibility is to open it up to entities that want to organise events and concerts."
