Snaitech, the owner of the La Maura racecourse area where AC Milan wants to build the new stadium, clarifies some aspects of the issue. Below is the official statement released today by the company, as relayed by PianetaMilan.it.
"In light of recent statements reported in various press outlets regarding the area on which the Snai La Maura Racecourse is located, Snaitech confirms that it owns the relevant areas.
In particular, the company has signed a preliminary agreement for the purchase of the area that includes the Snai La Maura Racecourse. However, the sale is not yet complete as it is subject to several suspensive conditions such as the construction of new tracks and services for trotting within the Snai San Siro Racecourse.
Indeed, Snaitech continues to invest significant sums in the redevelopment, expansion and modernisation of its sports facilities to create a racecourse capable of accommodating all equestrian disciplines. Since 2016, when the Snaitech project began, the company has initiated a process of enhancing the Snai San Siro Racecourse by following three strategic pillars. First, the recovery and enhancement of the artistic-cultural heritage (San Siro is the only sports facility recognized as a national monument). Second, the rationalisation and certification of the environmental heritage, particularly the valuable botanical park. Finally, the revival of the sports component, the central soul of a unique structure in Italy and at the forefront of Europe.
In this ambitious project, Snaitech has collaborated with academic institutions to leverage the best skills, involved industrial partners in the search for innovative solutions, and put the wealth of the racecourse at the center of a sustainable and synergistic plan with the growth of Milan and the country.
In this regard, Snaitech also hopes that, in the event of a possible sale, the future of the area, subject to landscape constraints and designated for sports use, can bring benefits to the neighborhood and the city."
