Following a tense January transfer window, during which AC Milan's proposal for Rafael Leao was rejected, we must now wait until later this spring for any developments.
In the meantime, super-agent Jorge Mendes, who still has ties to the young Portuguese forward despite signing with lawyer Dimvula a year ago, is exploring alternative options. In fact, Mendes is simply doing his job, though his efforts may not sit well with some Milan fans. A month ago, he spoke to Real Madrid about the possibility of them being interested in Leao, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport. However, this seems highly unlikely given Real's current roster, which includes the talented Vinicius in Leao's position, as well as other summer transfer targets (Bellingham, perhaps?). Therefore, Real Madrid is unlikely to make a stunning offer to both Milan and Leao, who wants the issue of the €19.5 million compensation owed to Sporting Lisbon to be solved soon.
For Leao's part, who has his ups and downs, he is genuinely attached to the AC Milan club and environment in general. But, he has yet to accept the club's proposal, leaving him with a significant decision to make in the near future.
