According to La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the Tottenham squad that will welcome Milan to their home turf in the second leg of the round of 16 on Wednesday night will be an unprecedented one.
In fact, Antonio Conte will have to do without at least five key players, making it a daunting challenge for the English side. Tottenham will be without the services of long-term absentees Lloris and Bentancur, in addition to the muscle injuries of Bissouma and Sessegnon. On top of that, they will miss defender Eric Dier due to suspension. The Englishman was booked against Milan in the first leg and picked up a caution, which ruled him out for a round of the Champions League.
There is a silver lining for Conte with the return of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, however. The player in question was absent due to suspension in the previous match at San Siro. The Danish midfielder will undoubtedly be the standout news in the starting line-up.
