Former AC Milan legendary coach, Arrigo Sacchi, has analysed the Rossoneri passing to the next round of the Champions League, the quarter finals, and said these words:
"Well done for reaching the quarterfinals of the Champions League, but now they should know that if they play as a collective, they can put anyone in difficulty. Pioli's boys need to be convinced of their strengths. In the first half, I admit, the Rossoneri started a few times and did not always cover the field well. In the second half, however, they were very good. It was an excellent second half, during which Milan had at least four or five goal opportunities."
Sacchi continued:
"Qualification is justified, for what was seen in the first leg and for what Milan showed in the second leg. The Rossoneri, especially in the second half, showed order, compactness, and courage. It was a great show of personality in an environment not easy to face. The English played below par, and Milan, even before Romero's expulsion, always contained them."
On the tactics:
"Good at keeping the right distances between the lines in the second half. I admired the great attention in the non-possession phase: they did not make mistakes."
Sacchi on Olivier Giroud's performance:
"He's someone who never holds back, works for the team, sees football as a collective game and not an individual one. I always say: one by one makes one, one by eleven makes eleven. So the important thing is to behave as a team and be led by that invisible thread that is the game. If he can improve even more, be even more compact, and press more, I believe that this Milan can give us satisfaction even in the Champions League."
