Rafael Leao and AC Milan are entering a decisive phase regarding the contract renewal, according to the latest report shared by Calciomercato.com. The Portuguese player has a deal expiring at the end of the next season and the Italian club cannot afford to lose his services on a free, like what happened to Gianluigi Donnarumma, Hakan Calhanoglu and Franck Kessié.
Right now, the parties at the moment are unable to reach an agreement on a fundamental aspect for Leão which is the payment of the 16.5 million euro fine to Sporting Lisbon. Leao's entourage thinks that AC Milan must contribute to the payment by offering a significant signing bonus for the renewal. This is indeed a request that has not been accepted and risks disrupting the deal.
Leao strongly wants to continue his adventure with the Rossoneri and could step up in the negotiation with Milan shortly. That's why a possible hypothesis could be to extend the contract until 2025. A short agreement that would serve as protection for the Rossoneri club.
According to Calciomercato.com, a new meeting between the parties could take place in the next 15 days.
