Former AC Milan's head coach, the legendary Arrigo Sacchi, had his say about the Rossoneri's win at the 'Maradona' stadium against Napoli, 0-4. Here are his words written on the La Gazzetta dello Sport pages as usual:
"The collective, when it works, is always victorious. One for all and all for one, but one for eleven is even better."
He added:
"Leao, who was excellent in attack, also showed a willingness to defend, demonstrating humility and proving his strength when he applies himself", said Sacchi, "Napoli struggled because Milan managed to neutralize their strong team spirit, thereby lowering their motivation and quality of play."
Sacchi continued:
"Now everyone will say: 'yes, but Osimhen was missing'. So let's clear up the confusion right away: in this context, that is, with a Napoli that lacked grit, was very slow, and very predictable, even Osimhen would have struggled. And this explains that one player alone cannot solve the situation. There are three fundamental components that have allowed Spalletti's boys to reach the top of the standings and surprise the Italian audience: strong motivation, team spirit, and game organisation. The motivations partly came from the fact that important pieces of the past group, such as Insigne, Mertens, and Koulibaly, were sold in the summer, and everyone thought that the team had weakened. Wanting to prove that the prejudice was wrong was an important push."
