AC Milan's president, Paolo Scaroni, spoke at an event held at the Bocconi University in Milan. Here are his statements regarding the new stadium issue:
"The story of Milan's stadium has become a saga to the point that I am now called 'Stadioni' since I talk about it often. I want to reassure fans: the stadium is not meant to increase the cost of popular tickets, but rather represents an opportunity to attract large companies that may offer exclusive seats and services to their clients. Let me be clear, we are not inventing anything since they have been doing this in England for 20 years. They earn 100 million euros from stadiums, while we earn 40 million. That's where the difference is. I was in Yongong Li's Milan, on the board of directors, but I didn't count for much. There were two mountains to climb: the economic results and the sporting ones, to be climbed simultaneously."
Scaroni added:
"From this point of view, the club has done well, and this year we may come close to breaking even. From an economic standpoint, we've done well, and we can't complain about the sporting side. We always want to have the Milan style, with a moderate language and not to argue with anyone. This style has pervaded our club, and we feel a social responsibility. We should not argue in the locker rooms, as happened recently, for example. We must be the first to represent a model."
