AC Monza have secured mathematical safety in Serie A. Therefore, they are ready to exercise the obligation to buy back several key players in the lineup such as their captain Matteo Pessina who is on loan from Atalanta. According to latest reports, the buy-obligation is set at 15 million euros.
AC Milan, for their part, are happy that Monza are staying because they are entitled a percentage between 30 and 50%, on the future resale of Pessina when they sold the 26-year-old's card to Atalanta in 2017. The Rossoneri, therefore, should receive an amount ranging from 3.5 to 7.5 million euros.
The new liquidity in Milan's coffers resulting from the sale of Pessina could be used in the mission to acquire Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It is difficult but not impossible because Chelsea must be convinced to lower the asking price for the English midfielder, who is considered transferable.
AC Milan's directors, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are working on a possible deal in view of the summer. Loftus-Cheek could become the surprise midfield addition in the summer, writes Calciomercato.com.
