AC Milan were eliminiated from the Champions League semi-finals at the hands of Inter last night. A bitter defeat with a 3-0 score on aggregate. Our editor, Sultan Al Shammari brought you his opinion on the club's situation. Here are his words:

This is how football is, full of details. However, the truth prevails after one loses and how the club deals with it. Nowadays, the beautiful sport is not played on the pitch only. Success starts on different factors. In the past, it was only measured and based on number of trophies won thanks to the resources made available to make purchases. Today, though, it is a different matter. To build a winning team, you need different details, which were not all made available to the Rossoneri club.

Has AC Milan already reached the point where it is required of them to achieve more success than failure? No.
Is AC Milan playing in a league that allows the club to return quickly in terms of efficiency and financial strength thanks to TV rights and media presence? No.
Does AC Milan have its own stadium that allows it to obtain annually an amount of at least 100 million euros? No.
So, what's the solution? The solution is to do everything that is impossible to overcome all these obstacles, through promotion, marketing, development, and keeping pace with the modern era and technological arts.

What is the solution?

The solution is to do everything to overcome all these obstacles, through promotion, marketing, development, and keeping pace with the modern era and technological arts. But, this surely requires patience, right? Correct. Why is that? Because Milan started its project in January 2020. At the end of June 2018, it would have been at risk of bankruptcy had it not been for Elliott's intervention and its solution to the club's problems.
Can the club move swiftly, then? No. The reason is that because the revenues of the Rossoneri club must improve and costs must be reduced. All administrative, technical and legal positions must be improved to overcome all the obstacles and failures that have accumulated on the club from 2007/2008 to the 2017/2018 season. AC Milan went through a decade of all kinds of problems, therefore, it was necessary to work from the beginning in order to reach full rehabilitatation.
You can't expect the issues of a full decade to be solved in only three years. AC Milan needs its own stadium, higher income from TV rights.

What should AC Milan do then?

AC Milan needs patience, and a lot of it. This is what the club directors, either Paolo Maldini, Frederic Massara or even Zvonimir Boban have done so far. Today, we can talk of revenue around 350 million euros. AC Milan have various challenges on technical levels and there are laws to abide by. Would you be willing to see AC Milan get by each season, or for the club to be well-established and competitive for many years to come?

A sporting project is for years, and not for two seasons. Therefore, it doesn't matter who is the responsible one here, but what matters is how the project carries on now.

Strategically speaking, economically, and on a sporting level, there have been mistakes, that is true. But, can they be rectified? Yes. Are these mistakes of natural occurence? Yes. Is the club in a catastrophic state? No.

Speaking from a sporting level, economic aspect and the vision for the future: this club has the best plan in Italy. That is why we must remain patient now.

We are all Milan fans, but cheering the club on is not done by shouting, because that's an easy thing to do...

Forza Milan
