According to what was reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the paths of West Ham and Gianluca Scamacca seem to be on the verge of parting ways in the summer transfer window. The Italian striker arrived in London from Sassuolo less than 12 months ago and, despite making a good impression, a knee injury has affected his situation in the Premier League and caused him to end the season prematurely. For this reason, the player and the club could go their separate ways. For AC Milan, it's an opportunity since Scamacca's transfer value is no longer worth the 40 million pounds that West Ham paid for him in the Premier League last year, and for which Milan had stepped aside. Today, the player could also arrive on loan to satisfy everyone. He is young, Italian, and has a lot of potential, so the transfer fee and wages wouldn't be burdensome. There is definitely interest because director Massara saw him grow at Roma, but the operation, if it were to happen, is still to be built.
At the same time, the newspaper, this morning, also considers alternative names to Scamacca. In this case, two profiles have often been linked to AC Milan in the past. One is Alvaro Morata, a striker with proven experience and reliability in Italy, where he has played at a high level several times with Juventus. The Spanish player's contract expires in 2024 with Atletico Madrid, and the renewal is still uncertain due to the wage issue, despite the Decreto Crescita (a law to encourage economic growth in Italy). Then there's Noah Okafor, a promising talent who faced Milan as an opponent in the Champions League group stage. He will also be a free agent in 2024, but Red Bull are tough negotiators and won't give in easily. Meanwhile, a name has also emerged for the right-wing position: Milan would be interested in the 23-year-old Kosovar winger Edon Zhegrova, currently playing for Lille.
