AC Milan are going through a new era and phase under the guidance of Gerry Cardinale. CEO Giorgio Furlani has granted an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport to take stock of the situation and address it. Here are his statements, as told in the newspaper's website:
"First of all, I want to say thank you to Paolo and Ricky and express the gratitude of all Milan collaborators for their significant contribution to the club in these years. Paolo has been one of the greatest players ever, and as an executive, together with Ricky, he played an important role in achieving our 19th Scudetto. We are sorry to see them leave."
He added:
"In our club, we constantly analyze the most suitable strategies and models to ensure that Milan can continue to progress on and off the field, to compete with the leading teams in Europe. The first fundamental element, as I always repeat, is and will remain football. It is precisely with this goal that we have decided on an organizational restructuring that leads to the creation of a working group for the technical/sporting aspect."
Giorgio Furlani on AC Milan's new vision and relaunch:
"Our priority now is to consolidate and strengthen the progress made in recent years in all components of the club. Our ambition has not changed, but rather strengthened: to be competitive at the top of European football. We are on the right track, but there is still a lot of work to do. I hope our wonderful fans can keep their support for the club intact and constant, and personally, I hope to be able to interact soon with our fans so that they can understand our strategy and continue to witness Milan's growth together."
