Charles De Ketelaere was Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara's bet going into this season. When he was signed in the previous summer for a fee around 32 million euros (plus bonuses), there was a lot of expectation, given the significant investment. Unfortunately, the Belgian showed only flashes of his talent here and there and never fully convinced the coach.
It was a rough first season for the former Club Brugge. Now that Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are gone, the management may be looking to try to recoup some of the investment made in the attacking midfielder and invest the money received from his potential sale elsewhere.
According to what was reported today by La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are willing to let Charles De Ketelaere leave. The hope is that a Premier League club would be willing to offer an important fee: no less than 28 million euros.
