AC Milan's newest signing in the midfield area for Stefano Pioli's team, Yunus Musah, has presented himself to the media and said these words in today's press conference:
"Gattuso? He sometimes talked to me about what was happening here at Milan. He gave me advice on how to play as a midfielder. With Riccio (Gattuso's assistant), we joked about playing for Milan this year... Then it happened."
He added:
"I am extremely happy to be here, I can't wait to play and help my teammates. I'm overjoyed."
What kind of midfielder are you?
"I like to do a bit of everything. I like to drop back, carry the ball forward while dribbling, be aggressive in defense... I like being a midfielder who does a bit of everything. I believe I have the power to carry the ball forward."
Who smiles more between you and Samuel Chukwueze?
"I don't know, he smiles a lot too... It's really nice to have someone like him in the locker room."
Have you spoken to Gattuso after it became official?
"No, I haven't spoken to him, but now that you've mentioned it, I'll have to call him."
From Giorgione to Milan...
"I would have never dreamt of it. It's a beautiful story: I went through a lot after Giorgione, and now I'm back here in Italy, at Milan, in a club with a rich history."
How does it feel to be in this locker room?
"It's a locker room full of talented players who have already achieved a lot in football. Working with them is a privilege. I want to improve and learn from them, reaching my maximum potential."
What was your childhood like here in Italy? Yunus Musah said:
"I had a great time in Italy. We played in many tournaments, we played often, and when we got hungry, we would go to my mother's shop to get some snacks. I had a great time. I could fit in right away here in Italy, knowing the language. My brother is a Milan fan, we always watch the games together, and we know a lot about Milan."
Who impressed you the most from Milan?
"All the players are of a high level, I watched them on TV in the last two years. Being able to play with them is a privilege, I am extremely happy."
Have you talked to Pioli?
"I am talking to the coach, he's teaching me how he wants me to play to help the team. Pioli is helping me a lot with integration."
What are your emotions?
"Many emotions. I want to raise my level. Milan is growing, and I just want this to continue. For me, this is a huge opportunity."
In what position will you play?
"Pioli is asking me to play as a central midfielder, he's explaining the positioning and how to get into the area."
Who is your idol?
"I really liked Yaya Touré, he was a reference for me and I still watch his videos: he had technique and power, everything."
Where do you need to improve? Yunus Musah said:
"I can do more in the finishing phase, maybe score more goals. There's a high level of tactics here, that's something I need to work on... The coaches are helping me now."
