AC Milan's midfield has witnessed a revolution this summer. But, even the attacking department has seen some important changes. But, another addition to the offensive line is now linked to the fate of Divock Origi who is not in Pioli's plans.
According to what is reported by the Italian newspaper 'Tuttosport', no striker will arrive before the exit of Origi. The Belgian forward arrived last year on a free transfer from the Premier League with the significant opportunity to inherit Olivier Giroud's legacy. The result? Only two goals and very few sparks.
Now, the former Liverpool hero earns quite the high wages at Milan which is weighing heavily on the balance sheet. The player earns around 4 million euros and not many are willing to match that salary to convince him to leave Milanello, given the striker's lacklustre performances last seasons. The only timid proposals have come from West Ham and some Saudi clubs, but discussions have not progressed. Until Origi is sold, the Rossoneri are unlikely to move towards other targets. And in the equation, Lorenzo Colombo is also a factor, remaining a special observer.
If AC Milan do manage to sell the sports services of Divock Origi and do decide to let Lorenzo Colombo leave on loan this summer, the Rossoneri management would start making moves then to secure a new striker. Currently, Giroud's deputy is the 2002 class player who was on loan to Lecce last year, with Noah Okafor who can also play as a striker but with characteristics totally different from the Frenchman. What Milan is seeking is a penalty area striker who is young and has potential for the future: they won't go for an experienced or more seasoned striker, as was the case last season with Origi. Furthermore, in the Rossoneri's market ideas, the possibility of bringing in a central defender as the fifth alternative remains alive: if possible, an Italian, due to squad list considerations.
