AC Milan's American attacking midfielder, Christian Pulisic, has spoken to the microphones of 'Men in Blazers' about different topics such as the move to the Rossoneri. Here are his words:
On how the adaptation to Italy and the Italian language is going:
"Very well. It's nice to wake up to sunshine every day. I'm doing my best to learn the language, working hard at it, I've already taken the first lessons."
On when he realized it was time to leave Chelsea:
"There wasn't a specific moment, but rather the culmination of the entire season. I had only one year left on my contract, so this was the right time to change clubs. Accepting Milan was easy, I didn't have to think twice. I'm happy with my decision."
On how the negotiation for his move to Milan unfolded and who he spoke to:
"I spoke with the management and the coach. I wanted to feel wanted, which is the most important feeling when changing clubs, and both the coach and the entire club made me feel exactly that way. They conveyed positive vibes from the start."
On other players from Chelsea in the team:
"I talked to all of them before coming to Milan, and they all spoke highly of it. They presented it to me as a good opportunity, and I trusted them. They made everything easier."
On Italian football and the differences from the Premier League, Pulisic said:
"There are certainly differences in terms of tactics and physicality, but I'll be able to talk about it better next year. However, I'm sure it will be an excellent opportunity for me. I can't wait to start, I want to score goals and provide many assists. It will be a great experience for me."
On arriving in Milan and the enthusiasm of the fans:
"It's the best feeling of all. The warmth of the fans is beautiful. Milan is an incredible city. When you know you are wanted by the fans, the club, and the coach, and when you have their trust, that's when you perform best on the field. I have no doubts about it."
On the record shirt sales for Milan after his arrival and being a role model for American children:
"I'm not informed about the shirt sales, but knowing that so many people, especially children, are wearing my shirt is something that inspires me to always do better. They watch me from home and look up to me, and that motivates me to make them proud."
On his family's Italian origins:
"Yes, it's true. My father has an Italian flag tattoo dedicated to my grandmother who had Sicilian origins. She would definitely be proud."
On Yunus Musah:
"It's special to have him here; he's not only a teammate but also a friend. His smile and personality inspire others. We all know his qualities on the field, and he will definitely help me with the Italian language."
On the upcoming season and his role:
"For now, in the pre-season, I've often played on the right, but the coach and I have also discussed other positions. Other players who can play on the wings have arrived, so there's an open dialogue about my position on the field. There will certainly be opportunities to play as an attacking midfielder."
On playing with Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao:
"When you put strong players together, great things can happen. Every day, we try to make each other better, and we want to show it on the field whenever the opportunity arises."
On his personal goals for this season:
"I want to prove my worth to everyone by playing as a starter. I want to help the team by scoring goals and providing assists; that's my role. I want to win the league title and be competitive in all competitions. I want to be a part of this glorious club to the best of my abilities."
