The Twitter profile Football Talk reported some words from AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who spoke about his relationship with his family. Here are his words:

"My greatest pride is helping my mother. I didn't bring her with me when I signed my first professional contract; I didn't have the means back then. I did it after the second or third contract: her tears are a joy, it means I succeeded. The tears she shed when I gifted her the house... it's her house, not mine. She fought for us, for my brothers and sisters, she traveled for us, to Haiti, to Guyana. Once we arrived in France, we didn't have a home yet: we lived with our aunts and uncles, in challenging conditions. When we got to Villiers-le-Bel, every morning at 4, she would take me to a lady to accompany me to school and watch over me all day. She would take the 5:30 train to go to Ville-d'Avray and find something to eat, then come back to pick me up in the evening. Even today, when I propose to her, 'Do you want to stop working?' she says no. It's a testament to her humility. That's what she taught me: humility comes from her."

Maignan continued:

"Everything good that happens to your family, and especially to your mother, is your greatest pride. When you have children, you get married, your sister graduates, your brother succeeds, those are the most important moments. Everything you see out there, even if we have cars and whatever we want, it's not pride. Our pride is the success of the family; the rest is almost nothing. They can win four Champions Leagues, four World Cups, the greatest trophies in my sport, but if I haven't made my mother, my family proud, I don't care at all. What I want is to make my family happy: that's the most important thing."
