AC Milan's striker, Olivier Giroud, was unfortunately injured in last night's match with France against Ireland. The Rossonero centre-forward had to leave the pitch due to pain in his ankle. He sat on the bench and applied ice to the injured area.

From the available images, the injury doesn't seem severe, also because Giroud walked off the field on his own without too many issues before stopping with his teammates on the bench. Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, commented on the issue to TF1: "He had a little problem with his ankle, and then he twisted it... Unfortunately, he had too much pain to continue."
The sequence of events was confirmed by the player himself in the mixed zone after the match to La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I made a strange movement on the same ankle where I got hit in the Champions League against Napoli by Kim. At the moment, I have a weakness, manageable; it hasn't been bothering me for weeks. I wanted to continue, but my ankle said stop. But now I'm already feeling better, I'm not too worried. I'll go for some tests. But not too bad. It's a shame, because I wanted to play, but it's better to stop. Derby? Yes, yes, I think I can make it."
