Last night, Portugal's national team won with a large 9-0 score against Luxembourg at the 'São João da Venda' stadium. Rafael Leao's performance was highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition: he displayed dribbles, acceleration, pace, and so much more.
Without Cristiano Ronaldo, however, who was disqualified, Portugal won thanks to the braces from Gonçalo Inácio, defender of Sporting Lisbon, Gonçalo Ramos, PSG's forward, and Diogo Jota, Liverpool's forward. Alongside them, Ricardo Horta (Sporting Braga), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), and João Félix (Barcelona) also found the net.
Leao provided Ramos with the assist for the center forward's second personal goal with a nice run on the left, and just 120 seconds later, he had the chance of repeating it with Jota. In the second half, he caused the caution of Vincent Thill.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Leao could have done more, he could have scored, for example. He could also have been more consistent and continuous during the game. But, as stated last night by 'A Bola', "Leao is the player who excites the most in the stands, leaving the spectators breathless as he moves like a gazelle, unstoppable."
