On the occasion of the Gentleman Fair Play award, Rafael Leao was honored for the best goal of AC Milan in the past season (the 3-0 goal against Napoli at the Maradona stadium). Here are his statements on stage, as relayed via Milan News:
"It's an honour to win this award, I want to thank all my teammates and I hope to score a goal like that again this season."
On the overhead kick goal against Roma:
"I had been trying the overhead kick for a while, and when it happened, it was a very nice moment. I had never scored at the Olimpico in the league, and it came at the right time. For a player, scoring with an overhead kick is the most beautiful way."
Is it nicer to score a goal or provide an assist?
"I'm not a selfish player, I try to make the right play when I go one-on-one. Sometimes I can shoot, but I always look to see if a teammate is in a good position."

On the new number 10 jersey, Leao said:
"For me, it's a number of the great players of Milan. Milan has always had strong number 10s. It was the right moment to take the jersey, step onto the field, and show everyone what I can do with that number."
It's been since 1961 that Inter and Milan haven't been at the top of the league together. What value does this derby have?
"It's always a very beautiful match, both teams are charged up to play. It's a very nice moment, all my teammates look forward to this type of match. May the best team win."
