Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport as usual, Arrigo Sacchi has commented on the 5-1 derby loss and said these words:
"Superficiality, confusion, presumption. On the field, there was a team that made modesty and attention its main qualities, Inter. And a team, Milan, that seemed light, perhaps even presumptuous, confused, superficial."
On the mistakes, Sacchi said:
"The list is long: nonexistent pressing, forwards almost never present in defensive phase, approximate marking, stretched team, lack of collaboration between the departments, little clarity of play. Shall I go on?"

Sacchi continued:
"Everyone's fault. I really hope Pioli is not confused, but he certainly got the game wrong. He needs to be the first one convinced of what he does and then transmit this conviction to the players. In the derby, playing in that way, the coach didn't give certainties to the team. If Milan wants to succeed, it must be a collective effort in which everyone participates in both offensive and defensive phases. Those who agree with Pioli, good. And those who don't agree stay out."
Sacchi added:
"Milan was a team with eleven players scattered on the field, without logic and without organisation. They hoped for Leao's spark, Hernandez's runs, Giroud's headers... But can they understand that football is a collective effort, that double marking is necessary, that departments must help each other and, to do so, they must be close? You can't have a team that stretches 50 meters like that."
