Yacine Adli, after a long wait in the Rossoneri bench, has finally seized his chance. La Gazzetta dello Sport talked about the Franco-Algerian who has won the trust of the coach, but also the affection of the fans.
As per the Italian newspaper, it is better to set aside any comparisons with Andrea Pirlo and Zinedine Zidane, at least not until he performs at a high level in several consecutive games for AC Milan. So far, he has done well both in Cagliari (despite an error on Sardinians' goal) and at home against Lazio. Adli has shown a cleanness in football - and in ideas - that adds something to Milan, perhaps something that was already missing regardless of Ismaël Bennacer's injury.
The Rossoneri number 7 is precise in his actions and he reads certain plays really well. He is elegant in his moves and perhaps a bit slower at some times (hence Pioli opting to change his position from central midfielder to deep-lying playmaker in front of the defensive line).
In fact, Adli still has to grow, also physically. It's possible, however, that after the long wait for his moment in Milan, he just needs a few more matches to get his legs moving at their best. Nevertheless, it remains a fact that Adli has become an idol for the Milan audience not only - and not so much - for what he showed against Cagliari and Lazio. Yacine Adli is liked because he "has always shown the right attitude even when it seemed that Pioli, rather than letting him play, would have fielded the warehouse keeper."
Yacine is a great example of a 'team player'. For Milan, Adli said, he would even play as a full-back: fortunately, he won't be forced to. But in his new position, in midfield, we now expect from him playmaking, creativity, some goals, and many assists, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport's report today.
