On Wednesday, AC Milan played a Champions League match at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. On Thursday around 1pm, they arrived at Milan Malpensa airport from Germany. This morning, they had their first and only real training session at Milanello before tomorrow's 8.45pm match against Genoa at the "Ferraris". This is a real tour de force for Milan before the second break of the season.
Why is Milan playing tomorrow?
Milan has to play away in the league tomorrow evening against Genoa. The reason
for this is to be found in the division and regulations of television rights: Lazio-Atalanta, Cagliari-Roma, and Napoli-Fiorentina, with three teams playing in Europe on Thursday, must necessarily play on Sunday, leaving little space for slots in which to place the matches of Milan, Inter, and Juventus. The choice of the evening match fell on Genoa-Milan, which will be live on both Sky and DAZN, as per Milan News.
AC Milan have a busy schedule, Pioli must manage his team very carefully.
With this tight calendar, Pioli must know how to rotate his squad. The match against Genoa will be played less than 70 hours from the final whistle of Borussia Dortmund-Milan. This short period of time will not allow the Rossoneri to be lucid and fresh at a 100% level, definitely some players will be feeling the weight of this game physically and may not be really physically fit.
The AC Milan gaffer, Pioli, will try to rotate some players in Genoa. As per the latest update, Maignan should be in goal while Florenzi will take Calabria's place in defence with Thiaw, Tomori and Theo remaining as the starters.
Adli will return as midfielder with Reijnders and Musah, Leao is safe in front together with one between Okafor and Giroud in the centre-forward position and one between Pulisic and Chukwueze.
