Inter defender Benjamin Pavard gave an interview to the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper directly from the French national team camp. The former Bayern Munich player spoke about the start of his experience at Inter, but also about his special relationship with his friends at AC Milan. Here are his words:
“If Giroud told me about Milan? More than Milan, Olivier told me about Italy and Serie A, about the fans in the stadiums. A sensitive point: I like the fervor of the fans. At Inter I found exactly what I was looking for.
Pavard continued:
“Defenders who inspired me? Many, from Laurent Blanc to Walter Samuel, and more generally the legends from Paolo Maldini to Lilian Thuram. They are all a source of inspiration: I am 27 years old and I can improve and learn a lot. At Inter I can achieve my goals.
On the competition for the Serie A title, Pavard said:
“Here there are no shortage of rivals: Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina. But the season is long. That's why I didn't overdo my celebration in the derby against Giroud and Theo. Maybe I'll make up for it at the end, if we win the Scudetto.”
Pavard concludes:
“I knew Milano a little bit and I already liked it. The food is good here, even if I don't have much time for restaurants. For now, I live in a hotel. Giroud and Theo have given me some advice: they are friends, but not when it comes to the derby… Giroud as a goalkeeper? In reality I was hoping that Genoa would score in the end. He made a good save, maybe they'll put him in goal even in the national team.”
