As reported by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport today, if Milan is thinking about the centre forward of the future, there are those who want to try to take that position, and one of them is Luka Jovic.

The Serbian forward, who took advantage of not being called up by the Serbian national team in order to continue working at Milanello to improve his physical condition, signed a one-year contract with a unilateral option to extend it by three years, exercisable by the club. But, the performances of the former Real Madrid striker must convince Pioli.

The test is certainly important, as Jovic will have to compete for his place every week with Giroud and Okafor, but the challenge that awaits Milan again until the next break in November will lead Pioli to look at him again, as happened unexpectedly against Genoa last week, where he started and stayed on the field until the 93rd minute when he was called back to the bench to make way for Bartesaghi.

Starting as a striker and being drawn into Genoa's tight lines, Jovic found more connection with the rest of the teammates when he started to look for spaces by dropping back and, later, when he acted as a support to Olivier Giroud, creating a good chance on Calabria's cross, but his volley was blocked by a Genoa defender.

Arriving in less than optimal condition, a result of a troubled summer and always at the heart of Fiorentina's transfer news, did not benefit his performance, but this break will help him further close the physical gap with his teammates until he reaches one hundred percent fitness.

Jovic will need games of a certain quality to secure his stay at Milan, with the club in an ideal position to evaluate his condition for this season and his contribution in terms of goals and performances.

In case of Milan being not convinced, Jovic will be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, but if he performs well, he can continue to wear the Milan shirt in the coming seasons.

In Florence, he failed to find the connection he would have expected, while at Milan, as he admitted himself during his presentation, he wants to rediscover the sensations that led him to be signed by Real Madrid, who paid around 60 million euros to Eintracht to bring him to the Bernabeu.
