Christian Pulisic arrived at Milan just this summer, but he has already become one of the key pieces in the Rossoneri lineup. The Rossoneri winger is playing very well, scoring and providing assists to his teammates. The American forward gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Here are his words:
"On facing a team as important as Germany, it represents a very significant test for us. We approach it with a lot of confidence, we want to win."
About Genoa-Milan:
"A truly crazy match. I had never seen a teammate go into goal to replace the expelled goalkeeper. Everything happened in those final minutes, and the match seemed like it would never end."
On asking to replace Maignan in goal:
"Yes, I offered my availability, I told my teammates that I could go in as the goalkeeper. Then Giroud also asked to go in goal, and the goalkeeper coach, considering his stature as well, thought it was the best choice."
On Olivier Giroud:
"I believe I would have managed if it had fallen to me, but it was better this way. In the end, Oliver was extraordinary."
About the goal and VAR:
"Those situations are always nerve-wracking, then after a while you start to be pessimistic and think that it will have a negative outcome. This time it went well. In my opinion, however, it was the right decision. I controlled the ball with my chest and it slid onto my armpit, but I didn't hit it with my arm. According to the rules, it's not a foul. When I scored, I didn't even think there could be problems, in the end it was right to validate the goal."
On his start at Milan, Pulisic said:
"Really great, I'm truly happy. I'm starting to get to know the Italian culture and everything is very beautiful, the fans are extraordinary. They immediately made me feel at home, their support is fundamental and it's giving me a lot."
About the help from his teammates:
"A bit from everyone but I have to thank players like Tomori and Giroud in particular, guys I already knew from Chelsea, who gave me the right advice to integrate myself as best as possible into this new reality."
On his American teammate Yunus Musah:
"I'm lucky to have a national teammate like Yunus on the team. Truth be told, with Team USA, we don't see each other very often, so it was nice to have the opportunity to build a relationship of great friendship off the field."
On the impression Pioli has given him, Pulisic said:
"Beautiful. He's an excellent coach, in addition to being a person of great stature. He encourages you to give your all without making concessions, but he's also ready to comfort and help you when you make mistakes. I feel his confidence and it's something fantastic for a player. I'm really happy to have him as a coach."
