The France national team played a friendly game against Scotland yesterday. The match was hosted in Lille's stadium. The city of Lille is where Mike Maignan spent many years of his life and where he won the Ligue 1 trophy before moving to AC Milan. Here are his words:
"It's true that I haven't been back for a while, I came to say hello too. Frankly, being here brings back unforgettable moments that I spent here. I trained everywhere here, they were good times. This place launched me: I return with experience, with a different status, with a new jersey. I am really proud, even if I remain the country boy."
Maignan continued:
"The new Lille is a good team that maintains a certain level, that looks favorably on those who grow up in the youth team. It's a good message, and I love their way of playing. It's a solid team and I think they can do great things in the league this year. The stadium gives me emotions, and when I see the locker room again I take my place and remember everything I experienced as a Lille player, such as the pre-match preparations and the matches."
He concluded:
"I haven't been able to meet many people. Fans, staff, former teammates. A greeting? They have all my strength and all my support. May they continue to make Lille shine."
