AC Milan's director Geoffrey Moncada continues to search for talent. In the summer of 2022, he pushed hard for Malick Thiaw, who convinced Paolo Maldini and Massara. Last summer, he also pushed for Yunus Musah and Marco Pellegrino (judgement pending).
Now, Moncada is keen on Assan Ouédraogo. The 17-year-old German midfielder with roots from Burkina Faso is definitely an interesting prospect. He has been with Schalke since 2014. He also has featured for the Germany youth national teams for years.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Hechelmann, Schalke's sporting director, announced yesterday that he doesn't have much intention of meeting Milan to discuss Assan's transfer.
This is a complex scenario because Ouédraogo's contract contains a clause which can be triggered in the summer of 2024 and it could reach 20 million euros. In fact, some big European and German clubs have entered the race along with Milan: the father and brother were seen in Leipzig talking to Red Bull executives.
AC Milan will definitely try but the management of the Rossoneri will need to understand the cost of Ouédraogo, who should play in the U17 World Cup in Indonesia in November.
