Stefano Pioli spoke to the media in the usual press conference after the match. Here are his words:
“Many shots and few goals? We need to become more effective and concrete, certainly. We were quite dangerous tonight, we had to fill the area more. Loftus-Cheek? He felt better today, I don't know. We'll see tomorrow... He has an inflammation.”
Pioli continues:
“We did everything we had to do until the sending off, then we could do something more with 10 men. We were level numerically and we needed more intensity, even if we conceded very little if not two or three shots from outside the area. Why Jovic and not Okafor? Jovic because he is finding the best condition and Okafor had a problem during the break, he was not at 100%.”
On the next match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Pioli said:
“There is both mental and physical fatigue, but we will find strength on both levels. We know how important the match against PSG on Wednesday is. We need to try to take advantage of the opportunities.”
Pioli concludes:
“Did some particular incidents decide this match? It's always like that, especially in those where we could put more attention and quality. We lose a game where the performance was not negative, but the result remains. We wanted to start this important week with all our strength.”
