"From Jovic to Musah: AC Milan are without a plan B, while Mirante is an exception."
This is what La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote in this morning's print edition after yesterday's loss against Juventus. At the 41st minute with Thiaw's red card, six of the ten players on the pitch were substitutes for the usual starters: such as Mirante, Kalulu, Florenzi, Musah and Adli who replace Maignan, Thiaw and Theo, Loftus Cheek and Krunic respectively.
Pioli tried in the second half by bringing on more substitutes in Jovic and Romero, but the spark did not come. "AC Milan B, the one with the luxury reserves, is not working this time. It is true that Pioli's choices were limited by a long series of injuries, but there was no surprise change from the bench," the newspaper writes. Mirante is the exception that proves the rule.
