AC Milan's attack tonight will be extremely short-handed. Stefano Pioli, dealing with injuries and suspensions, finds half of his attack out and must find new and effective solutions with very limited choices. That's why the attacking trio facing Fiorentina tonight at San Siro (at 8:45 PM Italy's time) is almost makeshift, even featuring very young reserves drawn from the youth team.
La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition wrote that Christian Pulisic will be on the left wing, which is his favourite position and the natural one for him. He will be tasked with creating opportunities and providing key passes to his teammates to find goalscoring opportunities.
The ones expected to step up a notch, however, are certainly Samuel Chukwueze and Luka Jovic. For the Nigerian, the time for adaptation is over: after some uncertain performances and a period sidelined due to injury, the former Villarreal player is obligated to start being decisive. The numerous absences hand him - and others - an opportunity that absolutely cannot be missed.
An eye on AC Milan's Luka Jovic and Francesco Camarda...
This match is even more crucial for Luka Jovic. The Serbian striker regains his starting spot against his most recent past club, and Pioli expects him to make an impact. So far, he hasn't come close. The opportunity is equally enticing for him: to prove he's still a player and hungry for success. If he continues along the same path set in these initial weeks at Milan, Coach Pioli wouldn't hesitate to bring Francesco Camarda into play.
The Primavera forward, born in 2008, at just 15 years old, could break every Serie A and European football record. His entire family will be at the stadium tonight. However, Milan cannot solely rely on a 15-year-old, as talented and eager as he might be. In this regard, if there is to be a debut, it should be the rest of the team supporting him. Pioli made it clear in yesterday's press conference that since Camarda is in the squad, there could very well be an opportunity for him to play.
