Stefano Pioli, interviewed on Canale 5, spoke like this after his AC Milan team's defeat against Borussia Dortmund:
"I believe we lost it at the moment when we could have turned it around, but we lost it when we missed a 3-on-1 counterattack. Thiaw's injury changed our defensive balance. When we needed to take the lead, our opponents were smarter and better than us."
Pioli added:
"It's clear it was a disappointing night. We had a tremendous opportunity, and it weighs on us not having achieved it. We have the duty to go to Newcastle and try to win. We have a small chance, and we'll go there to fight for it."
On the injuries situation at Milanello:
"It's worrisome; they also faced some difficulties. There's too much play. Then Malick (Thiaw) was having a fantastic game, but then it becomes challenging to substitute."
Pioli, do you have something to say to the fans?
"It's difficult to find the words; I don't think the fans need my words. We need to do better."
On the chances of progressing:
"We have a chance: to win in Newcastle. Obviously, then it doesn't depend on us."
