On the sidelines of the 'RCS Sport Industry Talk' event, Paolo Scaroni, president of AC Milan, made some statements to the journalists present. Here are his words collected by tuttomercatoweb.com:
"Milan is in good shape; we closed the balance sheet positively after many years and had acceptable sporting results. So, on the Milan front, we're in good shape, and I'm pleased. Concerning football and the future of Serie A, however, I'm more worried. While things concluded acceptably for TV rights in Italy, unfortunately, we still can't get what we would like for international TV rights. We earn 200 million from international TV rights, while the Premier League earns 2.2 billion. Understanding there's a significant difference. Then we see legislative measures that instead of facilitating our industry, complicate things further, and that worries me. Sporting results depend on how much we earn and the clubs' financial statements."
On the stadium, Scaroni said:
'The spectacle in football comes from the players and the coaches, but also from the theaters in which it's played. Regarding Milan, I regret not being able to build the most beautiful stadium in the world with private money, without asking for a single euro from taxpayers. Let's not forget that San Siro was built and then renovated with taxpayers' money.'
On Milan's objectives, Scaroni declared:
"I would like to win every game. For us, it's a necessity to always be in the Champions League for economic reasons, but also because we want to feed the passion for Milan of our 500 million fans around the world. If I could always win the league, I would obviously be happy, but it would be something more. The minimum goal is to qualify for the Champions League every year. Clearly, the goal is to surpass the Champions League group stage as well; we hope it happens this year too.'
