Stefano Pioli's position at Milan is confirmed even despite the defeat against Borussia Dortmund at the San Siro.

Gerry Cardinale, the RedBird founder and the Rossoneri club owner, renewed his confidence in the former Inter and Lazio boss as he met with him yesterday.

Cardinale's visit to Milanello was unplanned yesterday:

This morning's report from La Gazzetta dello Sport explains that it was an unplanned visit by RedBird's top executive, aiming to personally reaffirm support for the head coach. They had a constructive and stimulating meeting.

The summit among Pioli, Cardinale, and the CEO Giorgio Furlani lasted an hour and three quarters, during which the club demanded an immediate reaction starting from Saturday's match against Frosinone.

Most importantly, they reiterated that Milan cannot afford to fail the objective of finishing among the top four in the league.

Unless the situation worsens in the upcoming weeks, Pioli will continue until the end of the season. Then, by the end of May, a comprehensive assessment will be made to decide whether to continue with this same coaching direction or make a change.

If Champions League hopes are nearly dashed by now, qualifying for the next edition will be crucial. Otherwise, Pioli's fate would be already sealed.
