Jan-Carlo Simic made his first debut in Serie A, and what a moment it was for the young Serbian centre-back who, besides celebrating a clean sheet, and a victory, has scored a goal to mark this important milestone in his debut.
He spoke with Sky Sport Italia and said:
"What did I feel? On the field, I didn't feel anything; I was surprised that the ball came to me. I was happy to help the team, and I continue to work for the coming months and weeks."
Simic then continued:
"Making a debut for a club like Milan is a dream for every kid. I worked hard for these moments, and I'm happy. The San Siro chant? I didn't hear anything; I was in my own world."
About Stefano Pioli:
"He told me to be ready, I've worked hard every day. I'm happy for the opportunity. They've already told me that for the goal, I'll have to bring pastries..."
When shown the video of his parents in tears after the goal:
"I expected it like this, certainly. I'm also happy for them; they've been helping me since I came here. We're all together, we have an apartment near Milanello. I'm grateful that they help me like this, even in difficult times. I don't know what I'll say to them; I think I'll hug them, and no one will speak. My mom will cry one hundred percent."
On the differences between Italy and Germany, Simic said:
"Here, there's more tactical work; we're a great family, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to play here. Paolo Maldini? He's my idol; I watched his videos when I was a kid. It's an honour for me; I do everything to repay it by giving my best. How did I find out that Milan wanted me? I was at the gym; my father called me, and I couldn't believe it. I went home, we talked for five hours about the future and the possibilities I would have."
