Stefano Pioli, the AC Milan coach talked with the media about the victory against AC Monza in a press conference. Here are his words:
"I am very happy for the young players, for Simic's debut. I am only reaping the rewards of the work done by the club with the youth sector because talented players are emerging, eager to work... They are already highly respected by the first-team players. However, it's clear that we shouldn't put too much pressure on them; we need to give them the chance to make mistakes."
After Newcastle, is this a new beginning? Pioli replied:
"We need to focus on ourselves, playing our game. The team has great potential; we just need to take it game by game, playing with confidence. After Newcastle, we faced tough feelings, but we showed character, mentality, and quality."
Was this the best response you could have given?
"It was a tough match. Newcastle was challenging, even mentally. Today, we approached it well."
On the injuries issue:
"Pobega might have an issue with his hip, Okafor says it's a cramp. We hope they recover. There's too much playing, and until those above us realize it, it will always be like this... Yesterday, Newcastle had two muscular injuries between the 15th and 20th minute."
Pioli, what was different?
"Confidence in ball management and defending. Plus, we had superior quality compared to our opponents."
Palladino said Milan was almost perfect...
"I always speak with the team and constantly seek stimuli to maximize the existing potential. Then we had some lapses; we made a lot of changes and couldn't find much consistency. There's no use dwelling on the past."
What are the objectives?
"We shouldn't focus on the table; it's pointless to look ahead if you don't approach the next game as if it were the last game playing for Milan. With this mindset, you'll have few regrets."
