Michele Criscitiello, Italian journalist and director of SportItalia has focused on Stefano Pioli's Milan and the future prospects. Here is his perspective:
"Milan has broken down. Can a perfect toy from two years ago stop working after two years? Absolutely. Remove the batteries, put the new ones in the wrong way, and the toy won't work. The Maldini era was over, and so was Pioli's. The club made a mistake believing that the coach could still contribute. Today's players always need new motivations, innovations, and it becomes difficult in big teams to always go full throttle and find new motivations."
"(Antonio) Conte was available, but perhaps he wasn't ready yet. He needed rest. Now that he's rested, it's right to hold him off until June. There's no other solution for Conte at AC Milan. Thiago Motta is good, but transitioning from Bologna to Milan might be risky, mainly because playing every 3 days is something Thiago Motta has never done, and playing three times in 7 days is a different game altogether. Conte wants Milan, and Conte is the only name for Milan. De Zerbi shouldn't even be considered, especially now that he has the entire Premier League and more eyeing him."
The journalist continued to talk about AC Milan:
"Ibrahimovic came to manage, so let him. Dismissing Pioli because the players don't even greet him anymore would be a mistake. That's Ibra's role. He needs to manage the team and finish the season strongly with a great second half while also aiming to go deep in the Europa League. There needs to be a change in mentality and physicality. Dismissing Pioli and leaving the dressing room in the hands of the players would be Zlatan's first defeat. Promoting Abate wouldn't make sense, and inventing other solutions would be risky, especially for the fourth spot where Bologna poses a threat, and Roma and Napoli can't afford to think about the Super League."
