Giorgio Furlani, CEO of Milan, briefly commented to Corriere della Sera about the news regarding the government's failure to extend the Growth Decree.

This decree had provisions for tax benefits for clubs purchasing footballers from abroad, provided that these players maintained their tax residency in Italy for at least two consecutive years.

"I've lived and worked many years in England, where the football sector is considered on par with any other industrial sector. Here, it's considered the presidents' toy, much like it was 20 years ago. We need to consider a systemic approach, not limited to the fate of individual clubs."

Furlani added:

"It's not understood that by spending less, we will acquire fewer top-quality players. And with the technical downsizing, sponsors will decrease. This will widen the gap compared to other leagues, which, for instance, already benefit from proceeds from betting companies that we are excluded from. Without the Growth Decree, renewing Rafael Leao's contract would have been impossible."
