Matteo Gabbia who returned to AC Milan early from his loan spell at Villarreal, has granted an interview to Milan TV to discuss his return and express his thoughts about reinforcing Stefano Pioli's team:
"It was quite fast. In a very short time, I've returned, but in some ways, it's as if I never left. I've always maintained a relationship with my teammates, with all the staff. Seeing them again and starting to work with them is something beautiful, and I'm enjoying it to the fullest now."
On his experience in Spain:
"I felt really good. When I left, I didn't expect it. I had various experiences, even with different coaches who helped me. I was happy, and I played: a beautiful experience that I'll cherish in my heart."
On his friendship with Tommaso Pobega, Gabbia said:
"There's a friendship that goes beyond the field. Even though we were apart, we've always been very close. In September, during the break, he came to Valencia, and then when I was back home, we almost always went out for dinner together. Even our partners are very close friends. Now, he's had this injury, but with his professionalism, he'll come back well and fit, and he'll give us a great hand for the end of the season."
On the many young players used by Stefano Pioli:
"I've been through that too. Seeing all these young and strong players, with a lot of personality, is always very pleasing. They are guys I already knew, and I hope they can help us daily to make the team stronger and more competitive."
On his form, Gabbia declared:
"I've always trained well and tried to improve every day, even in Spain, to be the best player possible. I know the environment, I know my teammates, I know the coach: these days of training will refresh my memory on what needs to be done. But I know where I am, and consequently, I'm ready to start these final six months."
On playing every three days:
"I was fortunate to play every three days in Spain too. It's tough because you play a lot, but it's nice and stimulating because you always have new challenges ahead. I think we're still in the race in all competitions, and that should give us the desire to come to training, the ambition to do our best."
On the challenge against Empoli this Sunday, Gabbia commented:
"A tough match, which we'll play at 12:30 on a tough pitch against a strong opponent fighting for survival. We have to approach the game in the best way possible and try to put the best version of ourselves on the field and bring home the three points."
