La Gazzetta dello Sport, in this morning's print edition, already spoke about what the new season would look like. As per the source, it depends on two variables.
If Stefano Pioli stays, it will impact the market, much like last summer. If Antonio Conte arrives principles, needs and targets in the market will also change.
The other principle is that there are no untouchables in the Rossoneri squad: no one, not even at Milan, expected Sandro Tonali's departure, but Newcastle's offer changed the team's landscape. Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, and Rafael Leao are not for sale, but many teams are interested. Will a foreign club make a crazy move? Between May and August, we'll know... Besides, pay close attention to Theo and Maignan, whose contracts expire in 2026. Paris Saint-Germain club admires both, and Bayern Munich looks at the French club with some admiration.
AC Milan incoming moves in 2024/2025 season?
The 2024 market will seem similar to that of summer 2023. Several deals, especially if there's a change in coach. Great focus on young players and those whose contracts expire in 2025 because, a year before the contract ends, prices drop. Then, of course, last year's acquisitions - Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek - will have to shoulder more responsibility for the team, and the market will bring in a new attack. Olivier Giroud will decide in the spring, but he's attracted to MLS for sure. Luka Jovic arrived with one year left on his old contract but could extend. The idea is that one of the two - or maybe both? - stay to serve as a reserve for the next number 9.
The casting is open; many Milan fans are already rooting for Joshua Zirkzee, but the story will unfold starting from the month of March. And Jonathan David will surely be back in many discussions.
Outgoing moves for Milan:
The Rossoneri club management, however, will change especially in terms of alternatives on the bench. Antonio Mirante and Simon Kjaer's contracts expire in 2024: it's unlikely they'll stay. Mattia Caldara hasn't played for months: he won't continue. Rade Krunic has broken ties; whether Fenerbahçe or not, Milan is a closed chapter for him.
The young ones, however, are pending for different reasons. Jan-Carlo Simic, Alex Jimenez, and Davide Bartesaghi have shown they can be in the squad but need more playing time; sending them on loan for experience could be on the table. Luka Romero disappointed in the big opportunity at Napoli, while Kevin Zeroli and Francesco Camarda are yet to sign contracts: Milan has been negotiating with Zeroli for months, and are hoping to sign with Camarda a new deal in March, on his 16th birthday.
