Giorgio Furlani, CEO of AC Milan, spoke to SportMediaset after the Milan - Atalanta Coppa Italia match which ended 1-2 for the Bergamo-based club. Here are his statements:
Is there any incident that angered Milan tonight?
"There are a couple of unfortunate incidents. Regarding their penalty, our defender, Jimenez, touches the ball. And precisely in the 94th minute, the ball hits the wide arm of one of their defenders (in Atalanta's penalty box). Everyone makes mistakes; in my opinion, there are some refereeing mistakes today."
Your stance on VAR?
"In my opinion, it's not clear when VAR intervenes, when it should and when it shouldn't, and how the judgments are. It's all very subjective, a bit sad for Italian football."
Milan was on a winning streak; how much does the defeat hurt?
"Winning streaks cannot last forever. Let's hold onto the positive things that have been done in the last month. This one went wrong, also because of the incidents, and we move on."
On the transfer market:
"We have already brought in two new players, including Matteo (Gabbia) who has returned. We can't make a big move every week. The market is long, and we will seize opportunities if there are any. We haven't been shy in the past."
Furlani to Sky about Rade Krunic's transfer to Fenerbahce:
"Everything should be ok for Rade, we wish him good luck for the future."
