The standout figure in the clash between Milan and Roma, won by the Rossoneri with a 3-1 result, is undoubtedly Yacine Adli. The 23-year-old midfielder, who started the game, scored his first goal wearing the red and black shirt.
It's an important milestone that the Frenchman pursued for a long time, having to work his way up from the bottom to experience the euphoria of scoring a goal at San Siro.
Adli's achievement is a true redemption story. Despite arriving in Milan last summer (although the purchase was made the previous year) and showing promise in the preseason, he struggled to find a place in the Rossoneri midfield. In his first year, he managed only six appearances and 140 minutes on the field.
Adli, however, proved to be of great value in the locker room, as evidenced by the barbecue he organised for all his teammates. Both a year ago and last summer, Adli rejected all possible farewell solutions, including loan moves, to have the opportunity to prove himself in the red and black shirt.
This year, the chance has come, partly due to injuries, and Adli is taking his personal revenge, proving himself capable even though there is certainly room for improvement.
His mid-season statistics are significantly better than those from a year ago: a total of 15 appearances (8 as a starter) for a combined 760 minutes, accompanied by a goal and many impressive plays.
