Udinese Calcio, after a careful analysis of the documents received today, has decided to file a complaint with the National Sports Court of Appeal of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) against the decision of the Sports Judge of the Serie A League to sanction the club with a closed-door home game following the incidents that occurred during the match against Milan.
"We have reflected at length today on whether to file a complaint or not", explains General Director Franco Collavino. "After a scrupulous reading of the documents, however, we have realized the need to proceed in this direction to safeguard the reputation of our historically multi-ethnic club and the commitment shown in pursuing the guilty parties and against discrimination. At the same time, we want to protect our people, traditionally fair, unjustly prejudiced by a measure that affects the entire fan base due to the unacceptable behavior of a few.
"For years, Udinese Calcio has believed in fair play, and as a club, we were pioneers in experimenting with facial recognition technologies, tested at the Bluenergy Stadium during the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final. These technologies would help genuine fans not to be harmed by illicit individual conduct."
