AC Milan will face Rennes at the San Siro in the Europa League with 7 thousand fans from France expected in the stands on February 15. It's an important match and Milan will have to be on their best form to beat the club who is sitting in seventh position in the Ligue 1 standings.
Former Bologna centre-back, Arthur Theate, who is now plying his trade for Rennes, was interviewed by Gazzetta.it, and he has issued a challenge.
Here are the words of the 23-year-old Belgian player:
"We're going to Milan with the goal of giving our best to win. We're not hiding. After a complicated start to the season, we're getting back on track. We want to continue improving, even against Milan, although it won't be easy."
Rafael Leao or Olivier Giroud? Who will you take off the AC Milan team?
"If possible, both. Giroud is extremely strong in the air, as a number nine in the box, he remains one of the best in the world. Leao, for his characteristics, is among the top three in the world. But I remember with Bologna in 2022, we drew 0-0 at San Siro and Ibrahimovic was also there. I hope to repeat that and maybe do better, although with Mihajlovic's Bologna we were more defensive compared to Rennes."
Did Roma try to sign you in January? Did you talk to Romelu Lukaku about it? Theate said:
"More than with my friend Romelu, I talked mostly with Rennes about it. I am happy here and focused on the end of the season. Of course, it's nice to be talked about in Serie A, the league I prefer above all. We'll see at the end of the season."
