Alessandro Buongiorno, defender and captain of Torino, was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
He spoke about Nesta and Maldini, two AC Milan legends in defence and how he looked up to them as a child.
Here are his words:
"Defenders I looked up to as a kid? Nesta and Maldini. I know their games by heart, I've worn out YouTube watching how they defended and participated in the game."
In the summer, he was close to being transferred to Atalanta, but in the end Buongiorno, who was sought after by Milan in January, decided to stay with Torino:
"We talked a lot in those days, President Urbano Cairo and I, and it seemed to us that staying was the right choice. For me and I hope also for the team. I feel good here, I'm happy. We know we have to rely on the collective, on the sense of team. We are an orchestra, not a group of soloists."
