AC Milan's midfielder, Tijjani Reijnders, has been one of the important new signings of the summer. The former AZ Alkmaar talent has shown good quality, but he can do even more.
In the last two league outings against Monza and Atalanta, however, Pioli preferred to start Adli from the first minute rather than Reijnders. Especially the last exclusion caused some surprise: the Dutch player seemed to have become untouchable for the former Empoli boss, and his characteristics, on paper, seemed better suited to face Atalanta.
Tijjani was excluded from the starting eleven solely for tactical reasons, a sign that the coaching staff clearly noticed a drop in performance.
On Friday night against Lazio, Reijnders should have a new opportunity from the 1st minute, these are the indications at the moment. In the competition with Adli, the final decision will only come during Thursday's training session, but the Dutchman is certainly ahead.
After showing interesting athletic and technical qualities, Milan expects a leap in terms of personality and technical leadership from Reijnders, as told by Calciomercato.com.
