Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan, continues to work to try to convince the Rossoneri and Nerazzurri to stay at San Siro and to say yes to the restructuring of the stadium.
Here are his words to Libero:
"First of all, it is important that Inter and Milan explain to WeBuild (the construction company tasked with studying the project) what they need to have a suitable facility, from the number of VIP seats to the facilities inside and outside the stadium. What to do outside? I am reminded of an old idea of Thohir's: to build a reception area, with lounges and dedicated spaces in the current parking lot. To recoup the investment, it is right that the clubs can decide to build something else, obviously respecting the rules."
In the coming days, there will be a meeting between Milan, Inter, and WeBuild to discuss the renovation of San Siro, as per mayor Sala:
"Net of Cardinale's statements, next week I will invite Milan, Inter, and WeBuild to the same table to verify the clubs' needs. I have told the teams that if they want ownership of the stadium, of course, they will have to bear the expenses. It's an ideal solution, by the way, because that way the work would proceed quickly; otherwise, if it were public works, you know better than me how it would end... Costs? Let's say 300-350 million euros. In theory, the value of the stadium should be added to this. We have it on the books for 100 million euros, but I don't have to make money from it. I would grant it as a surface right for 90 years with a formula whereby in the end it would become the property of the teams. In practice, they could already register it in their assets. At that point, it would only cost them one million a year."
