Stefano Pioli has many choices in the right-back position to choose from. There is Davide Calabria, Alessandro Florenzi and Filippo Terracciano who was signed from Hellas Verona in the last winter transfer market window.

Considering the level that the former Roma player is showing and the hierarchy with the Milan captain, this duality will be alive for the rest of the season. Then, in the summer, deeper reflections will be needed because Florenzi is no longer very young and has a contract expiring in 2025.
AC Milan, in reality, had tried to move forward already in January by signing Terracciano from Verona for 5 million euros plus bonuses. The signing of the versatile player from Verona was the only investment made by the Rossoneri and as such it needs to be valued.
After the mistake that led to the penalty conceded against Bologna, Filippo hasn't played in Serie A against Frosinone, Napoli, Monza, Atalanta, Lazio, and Empoli, but only for two short spells against Rennes in the Europa League both in the first leg and in the return leg.
In the next round, against Slavia Prague, he didn't play any minutes either. Pioli, at this stage, is relying on his most trusted players, also keeping an eye on Terracciano's adaptation phase. It would be absolutely wrong to judge him based on just one mistake. Meanwhile, on the eve of Verona - Milan, his match, Terracciano was called up by coach Bollini for the Italy Under 20 team.
Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D'Ottavio's idea is to have Terracciano as a starter in Milan's future because he has interesting technical and athletic characteristics.
The former Verona player was primarily purchased to grow and understand the movements to play as the right-back in a four-man defense.
The work of these months will be aimed at moving in this direction. And if the responses are positive, then Milan will allocate the budget for the next summer transfer market to other positions on the field. After all, one swallow does not make a spring, in one way or another.
