Mike Maignan is among the most important players in the squad of Stefano Pioli. He is indeed an added value and the club certainly want to keep him for a few more years with a new contract extension. However, he might leave if a big offer is presented, as reported by Tuttosport in this morning's print edition.
Just like what happened with Tonali last summer, it is not excluded that a similar situation could occur this year with Maignan, who among the big names, is seen as the most expendable. For a suitable offer, it would mean that any potential suitor should come to Casa Milan with a minimum of 80 million euros; otherwise, Milan is happy to hold onto their goalkeeper.
Maignan's contract runs until the summer of 2026 and discussions for an extension began as early as the end of last summer. However, at the moment, the difference between demand and offer seems wide. The goalkeeper, who currently earns 2.8 million net, has expressed a desire to earn a salary similar to that of Rafa Leao, around 7 million all things considered. Milan's initial offer, on the other hand, starts from 5 million: there is a gap, and in any case, the club and the player will meet in the coming weeks. According to Tuttosport, moreover, it would be easier to find low-cost alternatives for a goalkeeper.
The main name is Michele Di Gregorio of Monza, but there is also interest from Juventus and Inter, valued at 20 million. Other possible candidates, in case of Maignan's departure, could be Meret if not renewed by Napoli or Martinez from Genoa.
